Stress Response
Life brings moments of feeling overwhelmed and unsure, but young people should know they’re not alone. Stress is a normal part of life, and learning to manage it is crucial. This three-lesson series helps students understand their stress response, recognize personal stress triggers, and listen to their body's cues. Through the video and curriculum, we empower them to set boundaries, manage stress, and build self-awareness. Each lesson—Understanding Your Stress Response, Awareness of Your Stress Response, and Awareness of Stress in Your Body—includes a student workbook, lesson plan, and PowerPoint deck to support learning in schools, community programs, and beyond.
Understanding Your Stress Response
Explore how stress impacts the brain and body through engaging activities like the Flip Your Lid model, brain coloring, and labeling exercises. This lesson helps students understand what stress is, how it affects them, and how to manage it effectively.
Awareness of Your Stress Reponse
This lesson encourages students to build awareness of their thoughts and perceptions, exploring how their mindset shapes their experiences. Through activities on positive thinking, gratitude, and examining influences, students learn how to shift perspectives for a healthier outlook.
Awareness of Stress in Your Body
This lesson helps students recognize how stress feels in their bodies and why awareness is key to managing it. Through activities like checking their "stress temperature," practicing coping strategies, and they learn to identify stress and seek support when needed.
